Purpose

When cousins and siblings own shares together, informal Christmas conversations stop being enough. These sessions help families separate family voice from business authority so succession decisions do not stall every operational quarter.

What we cover

  • Purpose and limits of a family council
  • Who attends, who votes, and who observes
  • Cadence for updates from directors to the wider family
  • Rules for bringing spouses or adult children into the room
  • A short written charter the family can adopt or refine with counsel

Delivery

Sessions are facilitated in person when possible. Between meetings, participants complete short reflection notes so quieter voices are not lost to the loudest shareholder.

Fit with other work

Governance sessions often run before or alongside a Succession Roadmap. If ownership transfers are already underway, we may recommend Ownership Transition Counsel first.
